Bergamot essential oil, (Citrus Bergamia) is imported from Italy, where the oil is made by cold-pressing the rinds of the fresh bergamot citrus fruit, which produces a thin, green to golden yellow colour pure essential oil, that smells floral & citrusy & spicy, bottled locally in South Africa.

Bergamot essential oil works well in aromatherapy blends with other essential oils like Eucalyptus, Patchouli, Ylang Ylang.

  • Use the oil in aromatherapy, uplifting your mood, refreshing & stimulating your mind.
  • Use the oil a drop at a time in a cup of tea for additional flavouring.
  • Add a few drops to your shampoo to encourage new healthy hair growth
  • Add a few drops to a carrier oil and use the blend as an overnight hair oil treatment.

Usage Instructions of Bergamot Essential Oil:

  • Diffusion: Use five to six drops in a diffuser/ oil burner of your choice.
  • Topical use: Apply this oil to your skin by mixing no more than 4-5 drops of this oil for every 5ml of body lotion or carrier oil.   • Essential oil perfume: Add 80 drops of carrier oil to an amber bottle (50ml+), With a dropper, add in 10 drops of essential oils that contain base notes, followed by 5 drops of headnotes, and 5 drops of heart notes, seal the bottle and shake well, label and store in a cool dark place.

Safety & Warnings:

  • This essential oil is Phototoxic (when used in a blend at more than 1 drops per 1 ounce/30 ml). Otherwise non-toxic, though it may cause skin irritation. Use in low dilution (1-2%) when applying to the skin, such as in bath or massage oils, which means in essence that it can make your skin susceptible to damage like severe sunburn or blistering if exposed to sunlight, especially ultraviolet light, so please avoid exposure to the sun for at least 12 hours after using this oil on your skin.
  • A skin test is recommended prior to use.
  • Dilute with a suitable carrier oil before using topically to lower the risk of skin sensitisation and or irritation.
  • Skin sensitivity in some cases.
